Description

Arbutus menziesii- Pacific Madrone. A broadleaf evergreen tree to 50′ with beautiful red peeling bark. The grow mostly from the SF Bay area north but some are growing in Ventura County in Los Padres Nat’l Forest. They’d like an extra drink in winter in dry years and no more like 1x/ month watering in summer. Plant in sunny areas by the coast and shade inland. Well draining soil is a good thing. Decorative red berries rich in nectar.
