This is the time of year our pacific coast irises go into bloom. The early bloomers begin in early March and the bloom season lasts through very early June. These are hybrids of native irises and are short, 12″ tall +/- but with big flowers that are 4″ across. Plant these in the shade and water 1x/week for the first year then down to 2x/ month. The colors, patterns, and form can vary widely. While you’ll get more growth out of them if you plant them in November – many people want to wait to see the flowers and then pick their favorites.
