Our California Native Flower Arranging Contest April 7th!
(note the 30% off is on all plants items “for sale”, some plants are exempted from sale like, the ones we’re growing on contract, propagation, and some we’re holding for next year’s production like many of our pacific coast- in the 3 gallon pots. – the other 99% is all for you!)
Our spring California native flower arranging contest is close at hand actually it will be Saturday, April 7th. We’ve done this several times before and it’s always been a fun time for all. Here’s generally how it works and then we’ll list the info. in detail. We can have up to 25 contestants. Each contestant makes there own flower arrangement from any of the greenery, branches, and flowers around the nursery including the nursery stock(within limits). All of the contestants will receive 30% off of any nursery purchases that day. Additionally the 3 winners will also get a $50 gift certificate to use any time but better to use it the day of the contest you $50 will go further.
The judges will evaluate the arrangements and the three arrangements with the highest scores will be our three winners. In addition the judges can pick up to $150 in free plants

You can also show up and take your chances but not the best of ideas as we are limited to 25 contestants first come/first serve.When to arrive? You need to be at one of the flower arranging stations “no later”than 10:30. This our arrival/check-in deadline if you want to participate in the contest. I’d suggest that you’d get there earlier to scope the place out, and start picking your plants for your garden. Remember contestants get a mega 30% of our already low, low, prices. The contest will end at 11:30 and the winners announced by 11:45 with our high tech calculator.
What to bring… we don’t supply these and it’s sort of tough to have a flower arrangement without a vase?

Maybe a hat? And/or gloves?
The Judges and the Judging….
The Judges need to arrive by 10:30 too, to go over the scoring or they can arrive earlier and begin to gather their “plant collection” for their garden. Shouldn’t take more than a few minutes to evaluate the arrangements. Then hand them in, the winners will be announced and off we go!
Final Comments
Contestants are welcome to take their arrangements home. And should because they are all pretty cool.
And, and, and…I’ve coached youth soccer for years and played in an adult league and, and, and we lecture the kids, their parents, and the adult players that it’s about having fun. If you don’t get that then you should be there. This is really no different so enjoy yourselves!
