Iris 'Harry's Rootbeer'
Harry's Rootbeer
Our own hybrid that grows very easily here in Southern California, with beautiful maroon and brown (rootbeer) tones. Lots of flowers on multiple branches. A pre registration introduction.
Pacific coast iris species are native to coastal California through Washington State. In the
warmer regions like southern California pacific coast irises and their hybrids need to grow in shaded areas. When planting pacific coast irises they need to be planted a bit higher than the surrounding soil line so the water drains away from the center of the iris. In areas like Oregon and Washington where the sun is not as intense they can grow in full sun. They need well drained soil and weekly watering to get them established. Once established they’re pretty much on their own. Less water is better than extra water since rotting is the biggest problem when growing them. Spring blooming – generally ranging from 6” to 15” tall.
