Best Time to plant and we are 2 + Black Friday Week!
For me and what we grow- this really is the best time of year to plant in the nursery and your garden. It has finally cooled down and we’re entering the rainy season and rain water is the best water. Right now we’re seeding lots of flats of matilija poppies, oaks, catalina cherry and on and on. We’re beginning to pot up some of our pacific coast irises from 1 to 5 gallon pots and everything else too.Planting our natives and reblooming irises now in your garden will produce flowers in spring.
Yes, something get “fire treatment” to germinate – these are matilija poppy seeds, which do need to be burned.
And we’re also having our annual Black Friday Weeks sale too.
Here’s more info on that…..http://www.matilijanursery.com/promotions-and-special-offers/
I know it’s sort of difficult to get out in the garden this time of year, the days are shorter, it’s a little bit cooler/cold…..but but but and on and on and on. The garden is the safest and best place to be. If you want the butterflies, hummingbirds, and bees (for some) – get the garden planted they will come.
